Healthcare Science Week 2024

Kerri Bailey

Services backed by science

During this month's Healthcare Science Week we talked to Dr Kerri Bailey (pictured above), Senior Mental Health Scientist at Healios, about her role and the importance of science in healthcare.

She also spoke about a brand new piece of research she has led on alongside the science team which has been submitted for publication, which provides valuable insights into families’ experiences before, during and after an online autism assessment.

The research also highlights how innovative online assessment services can empower NHS decision-makers to streamline processes and improve equitable access to care across the UK.

Read the full blog post here and more information about the research can be found here.

Healios offers innovative solutions to the growing demands in autism and ADHD care and as we look to reach as many people as possible who may benefit from what we do, we have recently welcomed two new Business Development Directors to our Growth team.

Matt Daniel, from Exeter, Devon, joined the team in February, while Ryan Parkinson, from Sale in Greater Manchester joined earlier in March.

They've talked about their backgrounds and career experiences which have led them to Healios and their excitement at establishing relationships with partners old and new.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2024

We we're proud to be involved in Neurodiversity Celebration Week this month and shared a range of videos from leaders across Healios reflecting on how neurodiversity has touched them and inspires what they do.

We also published a blog with Specialist Neurodevelopment Practitioner at Healios Gareth Wood who talked about his journey with autism from challenges growing up when awareness was much less, his life-changing diagnosis aged 40 and why he feels neurodiversity should be embraced and celebrated.

You can view the blog here.

Healios leaders' personal connections to neurodiversity

We shared this video during Neurodiversity Celebration Week where some of our leaders spoke about how personal experience with neurodiversity has helped share the work they do:

Important updates

Referral form updates

Healios is updating our referral form process to better serve patients and ease administrative tasks for our partners. Starting Wednesday, 3 April, the referral form will no longer require the following data:

  • Ethnicity
  • Employment status
  • Gender
  • Assigned sex
  • GP
  • School information

Our team will now directly collect this information from clients, ensuring we have the most current data and reducing your workload. These changes are designed with your operational needs and the wellbeing of our patients in mind, reflecting our dedication to delivering an exceptional experience and service.

Ensuring emails are secure

We’re also delighted to inform you that our email (@healios.org.uk) is now accredited to the DCB1596 secure email standard and can be found on the NHS’s list of accredited organisations.

The list and more details can be found here.

Ultimately this means emails from our address are recognised as being of the equivalent to nhs.net emails in terms of security.

At Healios we take our role incredibly seriously in ensuring the information we send and receive is protected at all times and kept secure. This is the latest step in this process and we hope it continues to assure you going forward.
